Racism and Compliments
This clip from the Colbert Report about Bill O'Reilly getting lambasted for complimenting "Asians" as racist. Well it is but I guess one should take a compliment in the spirit as it was intended sometimes. Trust Colbert to take the joke and run with it. Starts after the preamble about elephants and wikipedia.

An Embarrassment of Riches
Once upon a time the sun never set on the British Empire and that could pose problems for people looking for the actual British. Like say in the trenches of World War I...

I For One Welcome Our New Japanese Overlords
Well it comes to no one's surprise that the Japanese have now built a mech that can be piloted by someone inside a cockpit. Even its head assembly looks like a Zaku and Nippon's plan to win World War III with an army of Gundams seems to be on track. The most ridiculous thing about this design is that its advanced targeting suite that fires a "BB-gatling" (riiiiight...) can be activated by smiling. So far it only mounts fake weaponry but a wink and a nudge later and you too can be rampaging down the streets of Tokyo. If I ever have a million bucks to spend, this is what I am buying. Screw a Ferrari, when I take my girl out on the town it will be in style with hordes of hapless pedestrians becoming pink mist as my beau giggles at their plight.

WHO IGNORES SUDDEN BLINDNESS?!
A chuckle-worthy set by comedian Dara O'Brian on the fallacies surrounding what those of us in labcoats call the "selling hope" industry.

Things That Might Have Been
In this interview Kevin Smith discusses his work on the aborted Superman movie. The one that was supposed to be directed by Tim Burton and starred Nicolas Cage. Say what you will about the man, Kevin Smith has some awesome stories to tell and quite a few hilarious anecdotes. It also illustrates a very chilling point; "Superman Returns" could have been much, *much* worse.
PS:
"Spiders are some of the most vicious killers in the insect kingdom." This sentence contains so many errors in so few words that my mind blew. Most spiders use webs and thus are not "vicious" killers. They are not insects. Insecta (or Pterygota and Apterygota) is not a Kingdom in the Linnaen System.
PPS: Trying to edit this using a browser other than Chrome apparently can cause some odd formating to occur no matter what you do. I see what you did there Google. Whatever happened to "Don't be evil"?

I Sense a Great Disturbance in the Force
It was as if a million voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

Making Sense of the Mass Effect 3 Ending
MANY MANY SPOILERS! READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Apparently a whole theory has sprung up on the Internet to explain exactly why the Mass Effect 3 ending is illogical and irrational. Its called the "Indoctrination Theory" and for those who do not have time to watch both videos the basic thrust is this: Shepard, through long and varied contacts with Reaper technology, has been suffering from the effect of Indoctrination much like Saren was. Thus the ME3 ending where Shepard takes a breath at the very end of the video is the real one. The entire episode after the Harbinger's beam hit was all in Shepard's head. A battle of wills between our intrepid hero and the influence of the Reapers. This would also mean that I was right; the TRUE ending is coming in DLC....
Videos presenting the Theory and arguments for and against it are embedded below.

Songs to Share
Here's a couple of musical gems I uncovered lately.
"Your Body is a Machine" by The Good Natured, a new British synthpop band.
"Video Games" by Lana Del Rey. Atmospheric, orchestral pop.

I Always Knew This Would Eventually Happen
With the Cult of Apple being, well, so very cultish I suspected as much. Jobs suspected the truth, that his creations had gone Skynet on him before the real Skynet could, and they silenced him. Then they used his death to spread far and wide as grieving consumers bought the 4S. Little did they know....
